Strengthening the Community

At Pathways, we recognize that every member of the community is equally important and that each person experiencing homelessness is a valuable member of our larger collective society. It is in helping these individuals that we are able to strengthen our whole society.

In 2019, the Department continued to see a growth in requests for temporary housing assistance.

Temporary housing cases increased by 25% in 2019, from 445 in 2018 to 602 in 2019.

The number of single individuals provided temporary housing increased by 30% and the number of families

increased by 22% in 2019. (DCFS 2019 Annual Report)

With the need for temporary housing increasing in our county, Pathways is able to respond by providing quality temporary housing for individuals and families. Aside from providing a safe place to live, meals, and access to social services, Pathways is striving to create the opportunity for skills training and workforce development programs. We are looking for a way to have the individuals who stay with us to leave in a better position to acquire affordable, permanent housing.
